The goal of Buoy was to make discovering and enjoying lakes more accessible by helping users find locations that match their interests, such as swimming, fishing, boating, or relaxing. The challenge was to define my own topic and digital medium for a semester-long project, and create something meaningful, functional, and user-centered. Drawing from my personal connection to lakes and recognizing an underserved niche community, I designed Buoy as an app concept that acts as a guide—much like a buoy on the water. The project focused on thoughtful UX decisions and concept development to create a tool that helps lakegoers easily navigate lake options that suit their needs.
